cabin named after &#8220;our own&#8221; lake. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vallecamping.se\/en\/the-lake-husgardessjon\/\">Husg\u00e4rdessj\u00f6n<\/a> is, in fact, the lake located here at Valle Camping.<\/p>\n<p>The lake, with an area of \u200b\u200b0.326 square kilometers, is the 4th largest of the Vallesj\u00f6arna. When you swim out a bit from the pier, be careful not to lose your glasses or keys; the lake is actually close to 12 meters deep. <\/p>\n<p>The lake is fed by a canal from Sk\u00e4rval\u00e5ngen via Vagnsj\u00f6n, while the outlet flows to the newly restored Sp\u00e5nnsj\u00f6n, then onward to Vingsj\u00f6n and Hornborgasj\u00f6n. Eventually, the water reaches Lake V\u00e4nern and the G\u00f6ta River. Through a canal, Husg\u00e4rdessj\u00f6n is also connected to <a href=\"#okollasjon\">\u00d6kullasj\u00f6n<\/a>. There are no fishing licenses available and the public is not allowed to fish in the lake. If you can prove that you are staying at Valle Camping, you have the opportunity to fish in Husg\u00e4rdessj\u00f6n through a special permit from the fishing rights owner. Everyone we know, however, calls it Vingsj\u00f6n, and it is named after Norra Ving, so we will continue to call it Vingsj\u00f6n. Here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skara.se\/se-och-gora\/bada.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">municipal bathing area<\/a> and a designated spot for all residents of Axvall on sunny summer days.  <\/p>\n<p>Here, the water flows from Husg\u00e4rdessj\u00f6n on its way out to Hornborgasj\u00f6n. Between Vingsj\u00f6n and Hornborgasj\u00f6n, it&#8217;s only two kilometers. <\/p>\n<p>One can argue whether the lake belongs to Vallesj\u00f6arna or not, but we choose to consider it one of Vallesj\u00f6arna, after all, it was in Axvall that Valle Municipality once had its municipal office :).<\/p>\n<p>The lake is therefore the 10th largest among Vallesj\u00f6arna (<span>0.151 square kilometers<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>Vingsj\u00f6n is only 5 meters deep. It is believed that it was deeper, but sediment from stormwater and sewage that was directed here in the past has made it shallower. The lake is situated in the Natura 2000 area of H\u00f6jentorp-Drottningkullen. We lack information about its area. The lake receives its water from two other small lakes (Hacksj\u00f6n via Dygergssj\u00f6n and from springs on the Billingssluttningen slope). The water from Rommen flows further into \u00c4mten. In Fl\u00e4msj\u00f6n, there is a popular public bathing area at the Svenska kyrkans stifts and kursg\u00e5rd Fl\u00e4msl\u00e4tt. <\/p>\n<p>Around the lake, there is also<span> a approximately nine kilometers long hiking trail along paths, forest roads, and gravel roads through a very diverse landscape, sometimes with grazing animals, which takes about 2-3 hours to walk. If it were, with its 28 square kilometers, it would undoubtedly be the largest lake in Valle, albeit also the shallowest with its maximum depth of 1.5 meters! <\/p>\n<p>Now we choose to include it in our list of Vallesj\u00f6arna anyway, since the lake is only 4 kilometers away (as the crow flies) and holds a special place for us and our guests. The majority of the lake is located in Falk\u00f6ping municipality, but the northern end of the lake and most of the western side are in Skara municipality <\/p>\n<p>The water from Husg\u00e4rdessj\u00f6n finds its way through Vingsj\u00f6n to Hornborgasj\u00f6n on its journey towards Lake V\u00e4nern, the G\u00f6ta River, and the sea.<\/p>\n<p>Hornborgasj\u00f6n is known for its cranes, and we have compiled our own page about the crane dance, which you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vallecamping.se\/en\/the-crane-dance-hornborga-lake\/\">find here<\/a>. However, Hornborgasj\u00f6n offers fantastic nature experiences and birdwatching all year round. The lake is considered one of Sweden&#8217;s most important bird lakes. How about spotting species such as Honey Buzzard, White-fronted Goose (Greenland race), Bluethroat, Marsh Harrier, Ruff, Great Snipe, Eurasian Bittern, Common Kingfisher, Wood Sandpiper, Common Redshank, Little Owl, Corncrake, Eurasian Wryneck, Common Crane, Red-backed Shrike, or Barnacle Goose?  <\/p>\n<p>The lake and its surroundings are a nature reserve. <span>You can find more information about protected areas in the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency&#8217;s mapping tool &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/skyddadnatur.naturvardsverket.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Protected Nature<\/a>&#8220;.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span>Fishing in Lake Hornborga<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>Lake Hornborga is a nature reserve and during the period 20 March-15 July Lake Hornborga is covered by a bird sanctuary. The outflow of \u00d6kullasj\u00f6n connects to the nearby <a href=\"#husgardessjon\">Husg\u00e4rdessj\u00f6n<\/a> through a small canal that links the lakes together.  The northern part of the lake is part of the \u00d6kull-Borreg\u00e5rden nature reserve, which is also a Natura 2000 area.<\/p>\n<p>The name of the lake comes from the \u00d6kull farm located by the lake. \u00d6kull was a royal estate during the Middle Ages, which was a place where the king&#8217;s local representative resided. The lands around \u00d6kull-Borreg\u00e5rden likely belonged to Varnhem Abbey at one time.  <\/p>\n<p>FISHING IN \u00d6KULLASJ\u00d6N<\/p>\n<p>Fishing rights in \u00d6kullasj\u00f6n are private and held by the fishing rights holders. It is located near Valle Camping, right by Highway 49. The water from Nycklasj\u00f6n flows through Tjursbergssj\u00f6n before reaching \u00d6kullasj\u00f6n. The lake is not very deep, around 2.5 meters, and most of the lake bottom is covered with pondweed. The lake is around 5 meters deep, with a visibility depth of nearly 3 meters, and it is abundant with mussels, including the common pond mussel and the large pond mussel. The lake covers an area of 0.046 square kilometers and is situated at an elevation of 127.2 meters above sea level. The maximum depth of Kusen is approximately 8 meters with a visibility depth of around 3 meters. The lake is connected downstream to the nearby T\u00e5sj\u00f6n.
